What makes our construction more green friendly than traditional construction?
Because your home is constructed in a controlled, factory environment
resources are utilized much more efficiently; the assembly of your home
in an enclosed environment protected from inclement weather greatly
enhances our ability to minimize waste of valuable building materials
through precise measurements and cutting; the same factors not only
make possible but encourage the recycling of excess natural resources
that would otherwise often be discarded; likewise the controlled
offsite construction environment greatly reduces noise, dust and damage
to the environment at the final construction site landscape and
neighborhood; all of these components of system-built construction
process allow us to build a tighter, more precise structure that
maximizes energy efficiency – all of which are key factors in green
building standards.
What does building Green really mean?
A lot of people ask us this. Green Construction is the future of
residential construction. Building Green is the practice of building to
a higher standard where the approach to construction is to build a
efficient, healthier home to live in, while reducing impact on the
environment.
What is the HealthyBuilt Homes Program?
The NC HealthyBuilt Homes Program provides a certificate for homes
meeting "green home guidelines" built by residential builders who
practice sustainable, high performance building strategies, making the
home a comfortable, healthy and affordable place that reduces energy
and water usage, promotes renewable energy use and helps protect the
land where the home is built.
What is a Energy Star Home?
ENERGY STAR qualified homes are at least 15 percent more energy
efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code
(IRC), and include additional energy saving features that typically
make them 20–30% more efficient than standard homes. ENERGY STAR
qualified homes can include a variety of energy efficient features,
such as effective insulation, high performance windows, tight
construction and ducts, efficient heating and cooling equipment, and
ENERGY STAR qualified lighting and appliances.
