At Red Tree Builders – Alair Asheville, we’re always looking for ways to build homes that are not only beautiful and sustainable but also efficient and high-performing. That’s why we often use precast foundation walls – specifically Monokast walls from our trusted partner, K-Wall Poured Walls of Asheville.
In our latest video, Ashley chats with Rich from K-Wall to walk through the major advantages of using precast walls compared to traditional block or poured-in-place foundations. If you’re planning to build or renovate, here’s a quick summary of what makes precast such a smart choice:
Faster Build Time
Time is money – and stress – on any jobsite. Precast walls are manufactured in a controlled facility, which means they’re not delayed by weather or on-site scheduling issues. On one of our recent homes, the walls were fully set in place within four hours.
Built-In Efficiency
Unlike poured concrete or block walls, Monokast precast walls arrive ready to insulate, wire, and drywall. With traditional methods, builders have to frame, insulate, and prep each wall after the foundation is in. Precast eliminates those extra steps – saving time, labor, and material waste.
Cleaner, Safer Job Sites
Precast walls are installed on a crushed stone base instead of a concrete footing. That might sound like a small change, but it makes a big difference on site. There’s less mud, fewer delays, and a much safer and cleaner working environment for everyone involved – including homeowners who want to check in on progress.
Sustainable, Durable Foundations
Crushed stone footings may sound unconventional, but they’re actually engineer-approved and incredibly reliable. Stone naturally transfers the weight of the home to the undisturbed ground below – just like railroad tracks do. It’s a stable, proven solution that works especially well in the variable terrain and rainy climate of the mountains.
